| To Whom it May Concern,
On Friday, January 19th, Royal Middle School had the opportunity to be entertained by
Joel Brantley. Joel presented oldies Rock and Roll music from such great performers as
Chuck Berry, Chubby Checkers, and the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley.
During the presentation, he invited students to join in the singing and the twist, hulahoop,
and the rubber guitar contests.
While the music, dancing, and contests were fun and entertaining, Mr. Brantley had a
second purpose for visiting our school. Between songs, he delivered and important
message to the students. The message he delivered was about making appropriate
choices, especially where drugs and alcohol are concerned. He backed up the message
with personal and touching stories from his life, which brought the entire student body to
silence.
Mr. Brantley's performance was generously sponsored by Excell Foods in Royal City
and Snyder's Bakery in Spokane. It is encouraging to know that a portion of the money
we spend supporting these businesses is being used to support our children through such
programs.
On behalf of the Royal Middle School staff, we would like to thank these sponsors, and
Joel Brantley for allowing our students to participate in such a fine program.
Sincerely,
Kristi Bateman
